October 10, 2018 - Woot! We got our first green egg today! It's pictured here with a duck egg and one of the first brown eggs from our newest hens. All three eggs were together in a nest the duck made on the floor of the blue coop. First eggs are so special, between the excitement and their petite size and extra-hard shells. It's hard to use them - I just kind of want to look at them all day. We got the new hens on May 21, so they're about 4 1/2 months old. I don't know if the organic sunflower seeds I feed them all the time helped speed things along or what. It'll be fun to have egg production really ramping up as we head into winter. What a treat!
