We are currently running two flocks of sheep at Prairie Turnip Farm. One is comprised of our landrace sheep, started from a Dorper, Corsican and Katahdin mix. A second, smaller flock, was started in 2019, with the addition of a small band of Blackbelly sheep and one Painted Desert ewe. All of our sheep are bred to be hardy and well-suited to our location in Kansas. They are grass-fed and finished, raised on the diverse native prairie grasses and forbs that cover our pastures.
