We've been busy at Prairie Turnip Farm. October found us celebrating birthdays and graduations, hosting family and friends at the farm, putting the gardens to bed, working our day jobs, trying to find time to make firewood, and selling soap at the Mother Earth News Fair. The soap gig came up last minute and was a scramble, and a whole lot of fun. It was super cool to get to see people's reactions to the soaps and natural scents in person. Provided good feedback for future batches. We're turning now to preparing for lambs, which start arriving early in January, and, on the list of things we should have planned more carefully for, two litters of puppies. They're from our Great Pyrenees male and our two Great Pyr/Anatolian Shepherd mix females. One litter will be arriving any day, and the other will appear around New Year's Day. In the meantime, we're gearing up for them to arrive, making soap like crazy to prepare for the Christmas rush (and still trying to find time to put up some firewood). We'll have all our regular soaps on hand this holiday season, as well as a few special holiday-themed soaps, like this fir-scented Christmas tree soap. Made with hempseed, coconut, olive and sustainably-sourced palm oils; scented with balsam fir, pine, and frankincense essential oils; and colored naturally by the hempseed oil and spirulina. Smells soooo good and is pretty fun to look at, too!
