Eyes

Eyes, formerly known as Bagel, is spending his first night at his new home. The lucky boy is going to live with our son Scott. This puppy was the first puppy I saw when I peered over the hay bales when searching for Muffin on the morning after she'd had her pups. I had gone out to do chores and noticed she wasn't around. I happened to see Clover dip between two of the big bales in the lines of bales lining the driveway. I hadn't known there was a tunnel there, and it was way too small for me to fit through, so I had to hop up on top of the bales and walk along until I could see where she'd made her den. This little guy was off on his own, just a bit, squiggling along trying to find his way back to the warmth and saftey of mom. He was tan with a black face and feet and had one white spot right on the center of his back, and it was just the cutest thing I'd ever seen. I've never been around newborn pups, so was a bit alarmed by his separation from the group and his spectacular lack of effecient mobility. I hopped down between bales, scooped him up and quickly placed him back in the fold of Muffin's body with his other siblings. But, he gained a spot in my heart, as they all have, pretty quickly that morning. It was a couple of weeks before the puppies opened their eyes and a bunch more before they were really wide open, but boy howdy, once they were, this little guy put them to serious use becoming the "puppy dog eyes" king of the world. Far more interested in people than the other pups, this boy has a stare that melts glaciers. Long story short, he easily won over Scott and we're so thrilled he'll continue to be a part of our lives for the long haul!
